Contraband
Recently, students have been found in possession of contraband on campus. As defined by the Department of Education Chapter 19, contraband means, " a property, other than which is unlawful to produce or possess, which, as defined by local school rules, is prohibited on school premises because the possession or use of the property on school premises has in the past led to bodily injury or disruption of school operations”. (Ch. 19, page 4).
Examples of contraband are pagers, electronic devices (CD
players, iPod, MP3 players, games, digital cameras, etc). gang- related items, caps/hats, nuisance toys, live animals, water balloons, chewing gum. Parents will be called in to claim confiscated items and students will be given a consequence.
Unfortunately, devices such as iPods have been stolen before, during and after school hours, both on and off campus. Please remind your child about our school policy.

Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA)
The
Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requires our school to
notify parents, faculty and staff of the presences and status of
asbestos containing materials in school buildings. The law further
requires a management plan based on the findings of the initial
inspection. We are fortunate because Mililani Middle School does not
have any asbestos containing materials in our school buildings. Please
contact Vice Principal Greg Nakasone for additional information.
MMS Cellular Phone Policy
A friendly reminder students are allowed to use their cellular phones outside of all buildings before and after school hours. Phones must be turned off during school hours. Cellular phones will be taken away from students if the policy is not followed, at which time the parent will need to pick up the phone in the office during between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please refer to our school planner for more information. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
